Greensand Whole House Water Filter contains a Greensand Media, natural mineral that has been used for almost a century to reduce Manganese, Iron and Hydrogen Sulfide in water. Greensand Iron Filter uses high quality greensand media to reduce iron. Dissolved iron gets oxidised by media, which causes precipitation of the minerals and any iron, manganese or hydrogen sulfide present in your water supply. Precipitated contaminant then is trapped by the media and gets backwashed, while the end result is clean filtered water. With proper installation, greensand filters have a capacity to reduce the following contaminants: * 10 ppm (parts per million) of both ferric (oxidized) and ferrous (clear) Iron * 5 ppm of Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg odor) * 5 ppm of Manganese Greensand Iron Removal Filter contains 3 stages: * In Stage 1, water goes through a 20 inch sediment filter * In Stage 2, water goes through a large Poly glass mineral tank that contains Greensand media. It will reduce Manganese, Iron and Hydrogen Sulfide. * In Stage 3, water goes through a 20 inch solid carbon cartrige. System Flow Rage: 11 gallons per minute. Line In/out size: 3/4 or 1 inch, stainless steel bypass valve. Contains Fleck microprocessor which is used to set up backwashing cycles. We have 2 Greensand Iron Removal Systems available - 1.5 cu. ft. and 2 cu.ft. The difference is that the second system will last 25% longer. Filtration Capacity is 10,000 gallons.
